Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Welcome to My Korean Story. This page explains, in plain language, what happens with your information when you visit this site. I’ve kept it as simple and honest as possible — no legal jargon for the sake of it.

This website’s address is https://mykoreanstory.com.

Who I Am

My Korean Story is a personal blog where I write about Korean travel, culture, and beauty from my own experience — having grown up in Korea, lived abroad for over a decade, and then moved back. It’s a one-person project, not a company, so this policy reflects exactly what’s happening behind the scenes, nothing more.

Comments

Right now, comments are turned off on this site. That means no comment data — names, emails, IP addresses, anything — is being collected through commenting, because there’s no comment form active.

If I turn comments on in the future, I’ll update this section to explain exactly what gets collected and why.

Images and Media

If you ever upload an image to this site (for example, through a contact form), please be aware of one thing: photos can carry hidden location data (called EXIF GPS data) embedded in the file. Anyone downloading that image later could technically extract that location. I’d recommend stripping that data before uploading anything personal, just to be safe.

Cookies

Right Now

Since comments are disabled, none of the typical comment-related cookies are in use.

If you visit the site’s login page (which is only relevant for me, as the site administrator), a temporary cookie may be set just to check whether your browser accepts cookies. It holds no personal information and disappears once you close the browser.

Beyond that, this site runs on standard WordPress functionality, which may use a small number of cookies necessary for basic security and performance — nothing related to tracking or advertising at this time.

If That Changes

If I ever add tools that use cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising, I’ll update this page clearly before — or as soon as — that happens.

Content From Other Websites

Some posts may include embedded content, like a map, a video, or an image pulled from another site. When that happens, that embedded content behaves exactly as if you’d visited the original website directly.

This means the other website may collect its own data about you, use its own cookies, and track your interaction with that embedded content — especially if you’re logged into an account there. That’s outside of my control, and it’s worth knowing about.

Analytics and Advertising

At the moment, this site doesn’t use any third-party analytics tools or advertising programs — no Google Analytics, no ad networks, nothing tracking visitors in the background.

If that changes down the line (for example, if I add Google AdSense or an analytics tool), I’ll update this page right away to explain exactly what’s being collected and how it’s used. Transparency matters to me, so this section will always reflect the current reality of the site.

How Long Information Is Kept

Since there’s no comment system or account registration active on this site, there isn’t ongoing visitor data being stored or retained.

Basic administrative information (related to running the site itself) is kept only as long as needed for security and maintenance.

Your Rights Over Your Information

If you ever have a question about your data, or you’re unsure about anything on this page, feel free to reach out through the Contact page. I’ll do my best to respond and clarify anything you’re curious about.

Where Information Goes

Right now, no visitor information is being shared with third-party advertising or analytics companies, simply because none are in use yet.

Updates to This Policy

This page will be updated whenever something changes — whether that’s adding analytics, advertising, comments, or any new feature that affects how information is handled. I’d recommend checking back occasionally, especially if you’re a returning reader.
